ABILITIES: An excellent fighter, with a couple centuries of experience backing him up. Strength and speed are not at the preternatural level they used to be, but still above average; however, a physically powerful or well-trained human can potentially take him on. Sharp instincts. His sense of smell weaker and he can no longer use it for tracking, but it's still strong enough for him to differentiate between a human and a non-human, and is particularly attuned to the scent of blood. He can see well enough in the dark to not walk into any walls, but any details beyond object positions are far from clear for him, so he doesn't exactly have true night vision. As a result of being immortal, he can take quite a bit of damage. As long as he's not a pile of dust, he can potentially recover from any wound given enough time to heal. That's not to say he can keep fighting no matter what, however, because he can certainly feel injuries and pain just fine; it only means he can't actually die. Being wounded or at the height of combat may bring out his demon, in which he sometimes (not always) seems to operate in more of an instinctive, animalistic mode. Physically, his brows grow heavier, his fangs descend, and his eyes turn yellow. PERSONALITY: For the most part, Angel's fairly quiet, but it isn't necessarily a quiet that registers as shy; rather, he tends to come off as more cryptic and distant. It's hard to tell what he's thinking and he can sometimes give off a somewhat intense vibe. Definitely not the approachable type. He'll talk to people, but it's clear he doesn't really connect in any way the majority of the time and casual conversation can get awkward for him. On occasion, some might be able to catch a hint of his dry, deadpan humour if they talk to him enough. The more he doesn't like someone, the more the Angelus side of his personality starts to surface. He can be quite predatory when he wants to. It's notable that Buffy's boyfriend Riley, who's dealt with a number of vampires previously, is under the complete assumption that Angel is soulless when he meets him until Buffy finally tells him otherwise. As much as Angel keeps his demon suppressed, Angelus can influence him quite a bit and it's a large part of why he has so many issues with who and what he is. |
